Finding a quality jewelry appraiser is important when valuing your diamonds and gems. While Gemworld International does not endorse any of the appraisers listed, this is a wealth of resources to get you started. Jewelry appraisers may have varied credentials and areas of expertise. While some jewelers/appraisers may rely on their years of experience when doing appraisals, others have taken jewelry courses and obtained credentials. There are gemological credentials and appraisal credentials. They are different. While many gemological courses exist, the best known in the United States is the Gemological Institute of America. Graduates earn a GG degree which is a Graduate Gemologist. In the UK, there is the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, which bestows graduates the FGA degree or Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. Other schools in other countries also teach gemological courses and offer a variety of gemological titles. Appraisal Associations are a voluntary membership, in other words, they are not required but offer professional affiliations and often titles through appraisal courses and testing. A few of these organizations (U.S. based) include the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA), the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), and the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). Other appraisal titles can be obtained in the U.S. and internationally from courses such as the Master Valuer program and the Appraisal Course of the Ecole de Gemmologie de Montreal (a course endorsed by Gemworld International as an advisor). Use this site to find the right jewelry appraiser for your appraisal needs. You can start your search by entering you location and one or more appraisers will appear depending on the scope of your search. You can then decide if the credentials listed suit your needs. Since this is a listing service only, we do not endorse the ability or work product of any appraiser listed. You may contact Gemworld International for more information. Disclaimer: Gemworld International does not endorse any of the listed appraisers on this site nor can it verify the information or qualifications of the appraisers listed.
