The Laboratory-Grown Diamond Price Index is prepared quarterly. This is the second such report with the first one prepared for the 4th quarter of 2019. For those following this report, you will notice that there are many significant prices lower than the last report. This is due to many factors. The population of LGDs continues to grow and the data for preparation is now much greater. As predicted, prices continue to come down as they have over the past few years and since introduction into the market. Using our sources, we compiled this list from more than 16,000 diamonds. It is important to note that there is still much volatility in pricing and different manufacturers are using different pricing models. For example, one manufacturer not included in this compilation, consistently is higher priced in most categories. Other manufacturers might also be lower than the prices shown. Also, it is very important to note that in the lower grades of color and clarity, few samples exist and much interpolation is necessary. As these are lab-grown in controlled environments, few of these lower grades are produced and marketed.
