Kerry Gregory, FGA, DGA Kerry Gregory is a gemmologist who is difficult to define. Whilst she specialises in prac- tical gem testing focusing on efficiency and simplicity, she is also a teacher, a writer and a dealer at heart. Kerry entered the jewellery industry 18 years ago and has since has a varied career encompassing retail, manufacture, appraisal, pawnbroking, education and dealing in pre-owned gemstones and jewellery. For the past 5 years she has been head- ing up the Gemstone, Diamond and Specialist Jewellery department for the UK’s largest pawnbroking group H&T. This year also saw Kerry launching her own business, Gemmol- ogy Rocks, who’s main mission is to support gemmologists studying by distance educa- tion with curated stone sets and other tools designed to replicate the classroom when you can’t get to it. Kerry has delivered workshops and seminars at a number of conferences including the Scottish Gemmological Association and the Institute of Registered Valuers, and has had her articles on hands-on gemmology published in a number of trade magazines, including Gem-A’s Gems & Jewellery. She currently teaches the Diploma in Gemmology and the Diamond Diploma for Gem-A through their Open Distance Learning medium, and was elected to the Council of Trustees of Gem-A in 2015. Already an Alumni of GIA, Kerry is a student herself again in the final stages of earning the Graduate Gemology Diploma. She is the owner of Kybele LLC consulting firm based in Illinois, USA. As an independent researcher, she has dedicated a large part of her career to archaeogemology; the identification of gem findings from archaeological sites, with an emphasis on origin investigation. Her consultation services also include developing tailored education for the gem professionals, appraisers, gemologists and gemology students. She continues her role with Gemworld developing and teaching ed- ucation and consulting services. She was also the technical advisor in the development of the World of Color system, published in 2014 Dr. Lüle’s professional education includes a BSc. In Geo Engineering, Ankara University, Turkey; Diploma in Gemmology from Gemmological Association of Great Britain; Dia- mond Diploma from Gemmological Association of Great Britain (DGA); MSc. in Mineral- ogy, Ankara University, Turkey; Graduate Gemologist, Gemological Institute of America (GIA); PhD. in Mineralogy, Hacettepe University, Turkey. Her industry affiliations include membership in the Scottish Gemmological Association (SGA); Accredited Senior Gemologist member of Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA); Member of Mineralogical Society of America. In 2016, she was awarded the prestigious Antonio C. Bonanno Excellence in Gemology Award from the Accredited Gemologists Association.
